Description
Up to the Alp Plaun Barcuns pine, Swiss stone pine, birch, larch, rowan berry, and blueberry bushes line our path. We hear the splashing of small streams and occasionally the call of the Nutcracker. It pecks the Swiss stone pine nuts from the cones, stores them in large quantities in its throat pouch under the tongue, and transports them to cache stores. The remains of the cones are left behind.
Above the hut, the forest gradually thins and the terrain becomes rockier. Crossing meadows and small streams, we reach the hut Stavel Sut from where we descend into Val la Buora. The wild waters of the "Glatscher Davos la Buora" have created a wide and rocky streambed here. It is a very wild and primordial landscape.
Through a forest, the path now rises gently to the Alp Puzzetta where we are surprised by a modern, red building. Up to 300 dairy goats and 4 to 6 herders and helpers spend the summer here. For the descent to Fuorns, we choose the somewhat steep, direct hiking trail along the lower glacier stream.
