Experience Andermatt sustainably: A week full of nature and conscious moments
Andermatt, May 11, 2026
Sustainable travel isn’t about making sacrifices, but about enjoying yourself mindfully. In the Andermatt Holiday Region, this is particularly easy: thanks to good public transport links, a wide range of nature experiences and attractive offers such as the “Mountain&TrainTicket”, you can explore the mountains at your leisure without compromising on flexibility.
If you’re planning your holiday thoughtfully, the best place to start is with your accommodation. In the region, you’ll find several properties with the Swisstainable label, including the Boutique Hotel The River House, the Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen and The Chedi Andermatt. Your journey here can also be made convenient and climate-friendly, for example with the Treno Gottardo, which takes you comfortably to the Gotthard region. Once there, it’s worth using public transport. With the “Mountain&TrainTicket”, available directly via the digital Guest Card, you can travel flexibly by train and mountain railways and explore the region in comfort. Here’s what a conscious holiday week might look like:
Day 1: Arrive and take a deep breath
After your journey, your stay begins in a completely relaxed manner. Andermatt is compact, so you can reach many places on foot. A stroll through the village, a coffee with a mountain view or a dinner featuring regional ingredients are the perfect start.
If you arrive by train, you’ll catch sight of the famous church in Wassen three times.
Day 2: Discovering nature on the Chilchenberg
The flower and avalanche nature trail on the Chilchenberg combines a nature experience with learning. You’ll discover fascinating facts about alpine flora and the forces of nature that shape life in the mountains.

Tip: Treat yourself to a break on the Sun Lounger. This special vantage point invites you to soak up the sun, pause for a moment and let your gaze wander over the Ursern valley.

A break with a view: the Sonnenstuhl on Chilchenberg invites you to linger. Day 3: Active in the St. Anna Forest
The HospenTrail in the St. Anna Forest in Hospental offers exercise amidst nature. The trail consists of twelve training elements made from Swiss moon wood and features a variety of exercises for every fitness level – ideal for strength, coordination and endurance.

By taking part in a forest work session with the Wald & Klima association, you’ll be making a direct contribution to the region. At the same time, you’ll gain fascinating insights into the importance of the forest as a habitat, a protective factor and a vital part of the Alpine ecosystem.
