Description

From the Oberalp Pass, a high trail first leads into the Val Maighels. Before Lake Toma, the path becomes rockier and climbs steeply in rocky switchbacks to Lake Toma, the source of the Rhine. Nestled in a hollow, the picturesque lake lies at the foot of Piz Badus and Rossbodenstock, with the mountain scenery reflecting in the clear water. At the far end of the lake, there are beautiful resting places, either on a rock with a view or on the green meadows. On the continuing route to the Vermigel Hut, further mountain lakes can be admired, and on hot days a short swim even tempts. After the Maighel Pass, the descent begins into the Unteralp Valley and to the Vermigel Hut, the first stage destination.
