Description

After a short ascent, you reach the historic Gotthard mule track, lined with beautiful dry stone walls and rock piles, passing over Vorder and Hinter Ried to Meitschligen. The gently rising mountain road leads the route to the village of Gurtnellen, where restaurants offer a place for a break. It then gets steeper, and the route leads through a fascinating landscape occupied by species-rich dry meadows and rare orchid species to Heissigegg. There, mountain bikers are rewarded with a great view of the upper Reuss valley. The continuation goes along a beautiful forest road to the picturesque Arnisee, which offers picnic spots, fire pits, and restaurants and is perfect for a lunch break. The descent on the somewhat steep and rough alpine path challenges brakes and suspension but will warm every biker's heart. After a bit of a shake, the hamlet of Intschi is reached, and you now roll back on the cantonal road to Amsteg.
