Route Information
Best Time of Year
Description
Pure pass and Alpine feeling in Realp, ideal for cyclists. The artistically designed road, which was also driven by Sean Connery as James Bond in "Goldfinger", connects the Ursern Valley with the Goms in Valais.
After Realp, the road rises sharply – along with your pulse. Around a thousand meters of elevation with a maximum gradient of eleven percent must be mastered. From the pass height, road cyclists enjoy a breathtaking view. To the east, the gaze sweeps over the Ursern Valley and the Gotthard massif, to the west towards the peaks over 4000 m high of the Valais and Bernese Alps. After the Furka Pass height (2436 m above sea level), you can look forward to a thrilling descent. It is reached about three kilometers below the Furka Pass height, the Rhone Glacier near the Hotel Belvédère on the Valais side. Further down, the winding pass road leads to Gletsch, where the Grimsel Pass road goes up to the right. A few kilometers further you then reach the route destination Oberwald.
