Description

The Grimsel Pass, an iconic link between the valleys of Meiringen and Gletsch, is more than just a road - it is an adventure. For road cyclists, every curve is a challenge, through a wild, barren mountain landscape where granite rock contrasts with the clear waters of the reservoirs and the mighty power plants. The journey starts in Innertkirchen in the Bernese Oberland, where lush green meadows and bubbling streams characterize the landscape. The pass road winds boldly up to 2163 m above sea level, rewarding with a breathtaking panorama of mountain peaks and mountain lakes. But the ride doesn't end here. The winding road continues downhill to Gletsch, from where the majestic Furka Pass road is in view. The Grimsel Pass is not only a tourist jewel but also a historical and technical masterpiece. Centuries-old trade routes were developed into modern roads, and the power of water is efficiently harnessed.
