Description

The circular hike starts at the natural dam. After crossing the dam, hikers ascend to the Dammareuss. They then continue through the alpine landscape to the Chelenreuss, which is also crossed. The views of the glaciers are breathtaking. Finally, the path ascends slightly again and leads back to the dam.

Climate audio trail: For years, ETH researchers have studied the forefield of the Dammagletscher. Now hikers can share in the results: the path starts at the dam and leads over alpine rose slopes to the barren forefield of the Dammagletscher, onto a lateral moraine and through raised bogs. In total, nine listening stations are spread around Lake Göscheneralp where hikers can learn interesting facts about the climate via an audioguide. The audioguide conveys exciting stories. For example, it tells that bacteria even eat stones until they crumble; in the children's audioguide, their smacking can even be heard.
