Description
We start at the Lukmanier pass height into Val Termine. The military road to Passo dell`uomo has been expanded and is now more rideable. After the pass, we soon switch to a singletrail and cross the west flank of Pizzo delle Colombe (Campanitt). It is not snow that dazzles us on the way but the dolomite, which fills gullies and paths in a sugar-like shape or lies in chunks on the meadows.
After Passo del Sole, a gentle valley awaits us, green alpine meadows as far as the eye can see, and a small lake, Lago dei Canali. And we have a clear view of the Rheinwaldhorn with its eternal snow.
Off we go - on the long, very long descent to Olivone. Always on the left side of the Ri di Lareccio, we let it roll until we reach the forest border with gnarled larches and alpine rose bushes. Before the Alp Lareccio, we have to turn right and then follows a steeper section of the path towards Stabbio Vecchio. On a road over Pian Segno, it becomes a little more relaxed for a while, then we cross the pass road and switch again to a singletrail. We are now on the historic pass route of the pack animals and traders, the Via Romana, which leads to Olivone. The landscape is very varied, we ride through floodplain and fir forests, along streams and past pretty rustic houses. Especially worth seeing is Sommascona, from where it is only a few minutes to Olivone.
By bus, we return to the Lukmanier Pass.
