Description
Pizzo Lucendro is a popular ski touring destination and can be ascended from both the north and the south. On a clear day, its striking white peak is visible even from Andermatt. From the summit, a sweeping view of the surrounding mountains unfolds. In addition to the summit cross, there is also a meteorological measuring station there.
As long as the Gotthard Pass Road is still closed for the winter, the best route up is via the Rotondo Hut. On the first day, the ascent leads from Realp to the hut. The next day, the route continues toward Pizzo Lucendro. Just below the summit, at about 2,800 m above sea level, a ski depot is set up. From there, the final section leads on foot along the ridge to the summit.
For the descent, there are two options:
Return via the same route through the Rotondo Hut and continue down to Realp.
Descend toward the Gotthard Pass and then continue on to Hospental.
