Description

The route starts relaxed from Andermatt towards Oberalp Pass. At the pass summit, you will find the distinctive lighthouse symbolizing the source of the Rhine. The descent leads through the authentic Grison villages of the Surselva. In Disentis, the route branches off and you climb through the beautiful Swiss pine forests to the Lukmanier Pass. Upon arriving in Ticino, a break in one of the grotti in Biasca is worthwhile before you reach Airolo via the historic Piottina Gorge. Now the big finale awaits: the ascent over the legendary Tremola road to Gotthard Pass. Alternatively, you can choose the wider pass road, but the Tremola is an experience in itself! At the top, the descent over Hospental takes you back to Andermatt – a worthy conclusion to this impressive circular route.
