Andermatt - Witenwasseren

The route starts in Andermatt and leads along the Reuss via Hospental to Realp. At the end of the village, the route turns left and passes the station of the nostalgic Furka mountain steam railway. With a bit of luck, you can spot one of the impressive steam locomotives on its journey towards Furka Pass. After the railway crossing, the gravel section begins into the remote Witenwasser Valley. The former military road leads over wide alpine meadows, past the Witenwasserenreuss, and through a protected landscape area with moorland and rare flora. Especially in spring, the valley shows itself as a true flower paradise. The destination of the route is Oberstafel at 2,221 m above sea level at the foot of Pizzo Lucendro.
