Description

Piz Badus lies north of the Rossbodenstock and is a relatively quiet but rewarding ski touring destination. The tour offers beautiful, moderately steep descents and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains.

The Maighelshütte is a good starting point. Typically, the approach is made the day before from the Oberalp Pass to the hut, where you’ll spend the night. A day trip starting directly from the Oberalp Pass is also possible, though it’s significantly longer and correspondingly more challenging.

From the Maighelshütte, the route continues uphill via Plauncas Badus. A ski depot is set up before the ridge. The final section to the summit is covered on foot. Once at the top, an impressive view of the surrounding peaks opens up.

The descent initially follows the ascent route back to the Maighelshütte. From there, the route continues through the Maighel Valley and, with one final uphill section, back to the Oberalp Pass. If conditions permit, an alternative descent all the way to Tschamutt is also possible.
