Description
From Disentis train station, the path quickly leads us out of the village down to Brulf, on the Rhine. Along the river, we walk to the small village of Disla, which is still inhabited by about 90 people. Despite some new houses, it has remained very original, lovingly maintained wooden houses line the path, flowers, berries or fruit grow in the gardens, and chickens enjoy their outdoor runs in the enclosures. The renovated building of the fulling mill with its water wheel immediately stands out. Behind picturesque facades of other buildings, there are still more old businesses hidden that open once a year on "Mill Day" or during certain guided tours. So in Disla, you also find an old grain mill, a weaving workshop, and an old cheese dairy. The St. Luzius Chapel is remarkable and unique because of its octagonal shape and is one of the most beautiful Baroque buildings in Switzerland.
After our village tour, we ascend to the cantonal road, after which we continue on a beautiful hiking trail to Faltscharidas. Once back at the main road, we visit the Church of Sogn Placi, which has been protected from avalanches for decades by a massive stone wall.
