Description

After the lowest point of the route at Fontanivas, some tunnels provide fresh temperatures, but caution is also advised. It gets exciting when we branch into the tunnel to Mompé Medel. It seems long to us, but fortunately there is little traffic. Upon arriving in the village, we enjoy a first valley view of Disentis, but the higher we get, the wider our view becomes. The height Stagias is ideal for a first break before we roll down to Mutschnengia. From Curaglia to Sogn Gions we ride on the pass road. Then we switch to the former mule track that runs along the stream and past the historic hospice Sogn Gall up to Alp Vatgira. Particularly striking is the old bridge in Stgegia. Built from stones, curved over the Rein da Medel, it impressively testifies to a time when people traveled by horse, mule, wagon, or on foot. The modern cable car, located right next to it, only brings specialists from the military and Swisscom to the Scopi mountain - not for us. To the south, the Santa Maria reservoir blocks our view; we feel very small at the foot of the dam. Upon reaching the pass road, we can still make a detour to the dam crest to change perspective.

For the return trip to Disentis, we stay on the pass road to Disentis......easy peasy!

Construction work is currently underway at the gallery. As of July 2024
