Description

We start the route in the small hamlet of Soliva, which is still inhabited year-round by one resident. The slope up to Fontauna Rodunda is fully exposed to the sun, so it's possible that there isn't much snow, especially in spring. In the following forest, we follow the summer hiking trail through a wildlife sanctuary. Caution: possible crossings of deer and hare!

At Stavel Miez we leave the forest and head left across open terrain up to Alp Soliva. At the alpine hut, we find a sunny spot to take a break before heading through hollows and between snowdrifts to the white crest of Garvera. The Piz Muraun lies to our right and watches our progress. At the top, there is no cross or summit book, but plenty of open space and we look back at our nicely laid track. The mountain panorama with Oberalpstock and Tödi and the deep view into the valley holds us for quite a while.

Descent:

Option 1: Along the ascent track back to Soliva

Option 2: Continue over the Garvera ridge at elevation 1938 towards Laus and further to Reits/Surrein (arrange with two cars)
