Gotthard Crystal Trek: Stage 3
Route Information
Best Time of Year
Description
Stage three of the Gotthard Crystal Trek begins with a gentle descent from the Vermigel Hut before the ascent to the Lolen Pass follows. With its 47 picturesque hairpin bends and a steady incline, the climb is pleasant, the path excellently maintained. Despite its beauty, the pass is a hidden gem as most choose the Maighel Pass. The path leads along streams and offers views of two remote mountain lakes. During the descent into the canton of Graubünden, the Maighel Hut comes into view – the ideal place for a well-deserved lunch break. The further path leads to the summit of Piz Cavradi (T3+), before the descent on the Lai da Curnera side follows, which is provisionally marked (T3-T4). The long descent leads to Tschamut. From there it continues past the golf course in Selva. The last hour to Rueras passes leisurely and offers a view of the Pontaningen castle ruins.
