Description
High above the Surselva, and below the rugged rocks of Piz Cavardiras and Piz Run, the scenic and sunny trail leads us past the small lakes Lag Serein and Lag Crest Ault to Lag Brit.
We hike from the cable car station Caischavedra first to Lag Serein. Then we continue zigzag uphill and zackzack; we are already at Lag Crest Ault. It can only be admired as a turquoise blue lake in summer. In autumn it is nowhere to be found - it dries out. After another ascent over alpine meadows, we reach Lag Brit. The location is impressive. Looking south, the mountain panorama is fantastic. To the north, Piz Run and Piz Lumpegna block the view.
We take a break to be fit for the last ascent. Now it goes steeply uphill over roots and stones; sometimes we even use our hands. Once we have reached the highest point of the route, at 2550 meters, we are happy that it is now only downhill. But until we reach Foppa, we still have to walk carefully; only further down does the trail lead gently again over alpine meadows. We descend through Val Lumpegna and take our time, as the elevation gain can be quite tiring. We hike the last section on the Via da Paders, past Disentis monastery to the cable car valley station.
