Description
Pizzo Lucendro is a popular ski touring destination and can be ascended from both the north and the south. On a clear day, its striking white peak is visible even from Andermatt. From the summit, a sweeping view of the surrounding mountains unfolds. In addition to the summit cross, there is also a meteorological measuring station there.
In the spring, as soon as the Gotthard Pass Road opens, the tour can begin directly at the Gotthard Pass. From there, the route first leads through the Valletta di San Gottardo. It then descends into the valley via a gap below the Pizzo della Valletta before the final ascent to Pizzo Lucendro begins.
For the descent, you can generally take the same route back to the Gotthard Pass. Alternatively, you can descend via the Rotondo Hut to Realp.
If the Gotthard Pass Road is still closed, the ascent via the Rotondo Hut is a good option.
